SWEETS AND CLEBRATIONS – BRAND DEVELOPMENT

hgd blog insetHannah came to happygirldesign for a complete re-branding. New company name, logo design, website, the works. Her business “Sweets and Celebrations” which caters to the greater Los Angeles area, focuses on custom desserts and party styling. Here is a little about Hannah:

hannah contact imageI am a California girl, born and raised, with a soft spot for the Eastern seaboard and all things pretty and preppy. After working in the field of high-end interior and furniture design for several years, I set out to pursue my dream of starting a lifestyle brand inspired by my love of domesticity and the aesthetic arts. My true passion is creating sensational lifestyles for my clients. From composing breathtaking desserts and styling elegant parties, to designing flawless homes, I provide my clients with the elements it takes to live beautifully and entertain impeccably.

We started off by creating the perfect logo, Hannah loves bling as much as I do, so the fun began. We thought we had it right, then decided it needed a different feel for her brand, so we scratched it, and started over, and I am so glad we did…

Then we moved on to designing her new website…I absolutely love everything about it…

HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR COLOR PALLETTE?

One of the questions I am asked again and again by my clients is “How do I pick my colors for my logo and site”? All too often, I see a great design concept with a poor choice of colors. I feel five things make up good design… color, layout, navigation, typography and images. When all these line up, it is magic, when one piece is out of sync, it can all fall apart.

How many times have you seen a wonderful website, inviting and easy to navigate, you click on the gallery to see the product they offer and find the images look like they were taken in a kitchen with an iphone. Every part is important, but today we will talk about color.

I love what Kayla Knight said in her description of color

Color is a strong influencing factor in design and in the world around us. Each color has its own meaning to us based on culture, education, personality and a myriad of other factors. Thus, colors can strongly influence us in subconscious, natural ways.

Some people may trust a company more simply by their brand colors. Certain emotions and feelings can be evoked simply by seeing colors, such as “danger” for red, “cleanliness” for white, or “tranquility” for green.

An experienced designer knows that choosing the right colors isn’t just essential for aesthetics; colors can be used as a tool to convey a certain message.

Color can be a very personal choice, if a client has a vision of the end result, working to help make that vision come to life is my # one priority.

Early on I decided to create color boards for my clients to help in the design process…now they are everywhere, pinterest is full of great color palette ideas to help with the process. Here are a few of my favorite boards that I have created for my clients. Be sure to follow me on Pinterst for all the latest color board designs  PINTEREST

THE RE-LAUNCH OF HAPPYGIRLPHOTOGRAPHY

THE RE-LAUNCH OF HAPPYGIRLPHOTOGRAPHY

I am SO excited that today has finally arrived…the re-launch of the other side of the happygirl brand, happygirlphotography. After 5 years in business, I felt that my site and brand needed a completely new feel to it.

I went back and fourth with so many different ideas, I even completely built my site from start to finish, then scrapped the whole thing two weeks ago and started over.

It just feels like me, who I am, how I see my business, with the biggest influence being my new favorite place on the internet…see if you might be able to guess what that is……
